Adam Nelson represented Team USA at the Olympics in the shot put in 2000, 2004 and 2008. He won the silver medal in the shot put in both 2000 and 2004, though his 2004 silver was later upgraded to gold after event champion Yiruy Bilonog tested positive for doping. He is also the 2005 IAAF World Championships gold medalist in the event and owns personal bests of 22.51m (outdoor) and 22.40m (indoor).
