Kelly O'Brien burned the competition for her first IHSA state title in May
Girls Mile:
Kelly O'Brien (Sr., Palatine)- The graduated senior has come a long way since finishing 217th at her state cross country meet. No one really talked about O'Brien finishing last in the 3A championship last fall. There was no need to. It was a blip on O'Brien's resume which includes a state championship and other top notch performances. O'Brien recently made headlines when she produced the second fastest mile and 1600m for an Illinois girl at the Magis Mile. The uber talented O'Brien ran 4:48.01/4:46.30 under perfect running conditions which featured a beautiful skyline. The future Northwestern Wildcat will have one more opportunity to showcase her stuff against great talent.
