The 2015 IAAF World Youth Champion and Pan-American Junior Champion for 400m hurdles will face a tough field at Baylor that includes 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Javier Culson, whose PR is a brisk 47.72. Culson ran 49.12 last weekend.
Grimes has a season-best time of 50.50, per a runner-up finish in the collegiate field at the Texas Tech Raider Open. His all-time best mark is 49.11 from World Youth, albeit that race utilized 33" hurdles, which are shorter than standard size.
Texas A&M's Robert Grant, who ranks No. 3 in the NCAA with a 49.73 effort, will also race in the one-section final.
The Texas Tech commit has swept the prep circuit in the 110m and 300m hurdles with season-best efforts of 13.99 (+2.7) and 36.33.
