National Weekend Rundown For April 9

Is Lauren Rain Williams The Next Allyson Felix?

Could Lauren Rain Williams be the next superstar prep to bypass the NCAA and turn pro? The junior from Oaks Christian High School in California certainly looked the part on Saturday at the Arcadia Invitational, where she decimated the field in the 100m and 200m.

Her times of 11.64 (+0.4) and 23.37 (+0.6) aren't PRs -- that would be 22.9 (-0.7) and 11.37 (+2.0) -- but they are US #1 marks and they do cement her status as the nation's fastest female sprinter.

Local rival Zaria Francis, who defeated Williams last year at the California state meet, pulled out of Arcadia due to  a hamstring injury.
