National Weekend Rundown: Three National Records Fall

Who's the fastest? Alfreda Steele

Last week on Who's #1, we debated about who is the fastest short indoor sprinter this season. But it looks like the top girl of 2016 may be a name we failed to mention: Alfreda Steele.

The senior from Pasco High School in Florida won the 55m Dash at Jimmy Carnes Indoor in 6.90 to tie for U.S. No. 1 with Lanae-Tava Thomas of New York. Behind Steele, the nation's top returning 100m runner in Khalifa St. Fort took second in US No. 4 6.92. For St. Fort, a world championships medalist for her native Trinidad and Tobago, the race was her indoor track debut.

Steele, a senior and fellow Floridian, is the nation's No. 2 returner for 100m (wind legal 11.33).

St. Fort returned to the track to win the 200m in 24.99.
