BREAKING: Golden South Classic Outdoor Track Meet Under New Management

The Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation will no longer be managing the Golden South Classic outdoor track and field meet, according to a statement issued by the Orlando Health Foundation on February 3. 2016 will mark the 40th running of the annual post-season competition.

The Golden South Classic outdoor track and field meet has been discontinued, according to a press release issued by the Orlando Health Foundation on Wednesday afternoon. 2016 would have marked the 40th running of the annual post-season competition.

The meet is a marquee event on the southeast region's outdoor track and field calendar and served as an automatic qualifier for the adidas Dream Mile and Dream 100. Last spring's meet produced 275 nationally elite performances.

The 2015 girls' 100m champion, Khalifa St. Fort (pictured above) of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Fla., went on to run a personal best of 11.19 in the distance, place runner-up at the adidas Dream 100, runner-up at the IAAF World Youth Championships, win the Pan-American Junior Athletics Championship and run on Trinidad and Tobago's bronze medal-winning 4x100m relay at the senior level IAAF World Championships.
