Blaise Ferro, Aislinn Devlin, Downingtown West Boys, Pennsbury Girls Capture Wins and Portland Bids

#7 Downingtown West of Pennsylvania won the boys race easily with 97 points and two boys--Josh Hoey and Henry Sappey--in the top ten.  Blaise Ferro led the way for #23 Christian Brothers Academy, clinching a return trip to Portland for the New Jersey squad. CBA's 140 points edged out third place Pinkerton (NH), who scored 191 to beat New Jersey's Don Bosco Prep.

The individual qualifiers were Tim Bason of New Jersey, DJ Principe and Matt Bouthillette of Rhode Island's La Salle Academy, Kent Hall of Pennsylvania, and Jack Shea of New Jersey.

Downingtown West's Aislin Devlin will join her male teammates in Portland, as she won the girls race in 17:54. Her fellow individual qualifiers are Anna Juul and Kacie Breeding of Pennsylvania's Unionville, Sierra Castaneda of New Jersey, Abigail Long of Massachusetts, and Elisabeth Danis of New Hampshire.

Danis may yet go as a team qualifier, as her Coe Brown Academy squad took third in a wild team finish. The Pennsbury girls easily won, putting three in the top five, but the battle for the second berth was intense.  La Salle (RI) and Coe Brown (NH) each scored 125 points. The decisive action happened right around the 20-minute mark, as La Salle's Audrey O'Neill and Alyson Walsh each ran 19:59.0 to finish 50th and 53rd to effectively clinch the meet. Walsh finished directly in front of Coe Brown's fifth runner, Julia Cormier, which 1) displaced Cormier and cost Coe Brown a point and 2) ensured that Walsh would win the tiebreaker as the first #6 runner.
