Two-time defending California state cross country champion Fiona O'Keeffe left no question about her place at the top of the Flo50 rankings with a brilliant 16:41 course record run at Newhall Park. The prior record of 16:46 was set by Foot Locker Nationals champion Julia Stamps of Santa Rosa High School in 1996.
O'Keeffe ran 17:05 for the win last year.
She led Davis to the overall team title, as her younger sister, Olivia, contributed to varsity scoring with an 18:27, 13th place finish.
Michael Vernau won the Varsity Boys race in 15:12. Just how impressive was O'Keeffe's run? She would have finished 41st in the boys race and scored as the No. 5 runner for the Davis boys team.
