National Weekend Rundown for August 22

Dripping Springs Tigers XC Invitational (TX)


Sophomore Matthew Kearney of Austin Westlake ran 16:10.1 for 5k to defend his individual title at the Dripping Springs Tiger XC Invitational. The time is 41 seconds than his winning time last year and is currently one of the fastest times in the nation.


Senior Trevor Heinz took runner-up honors on his home course after pacing with Kearney for the beginning portion of the race, clocking 16:58. Austin Westlake and Dripping Springs tied with 46 points in the overall boys team scoring, but DS took the win on the tiebreaker as their No. 6 runner Zach Kovar finished 19th (in team scoring) over Westlake's No. 6, Luke Marshall, in 20th.

Senior Hannah Moore won the girls varsity race in 20:03.9 to lead Dripping Springs to the overall team title.
