Saucony Flo50 Summer Training Blog: Carter Blunt

Week 3 (July 13 - 19)

Another week of crazy, but good training. Slowly bumping up the mileage still and beginning to feel fit again. This week we left to travel to Arkansas to celebrate my grandpa's 80th birthday at the lake in the Ozarks. Training was difficult to plan with all the traveling so some of the runs were at weird times. Since we were in the Ozarks, every run had some ridiculous inclines that I had to run up! All in all, it was a good time and had fun spending time with family and celebrating my Grandpa's 80th birthday!

Monday - 8 miles moderate pace. Ran this on a pretty hilly course with John and Russell and Isaac. We ran relatively easy, but with all the hills it made the run feel more difficult than it should. We also almost got smashed by some biker dude, so that was fun.

Tuesday - 7 miles at relaxed pace. We ran this at our school field. Ran this with Isaac Russell and John again.

Wednesday - 8 miles total. Today was the day that my family had to head off to Arkansas. The time that we had to leave was at 6:30am, so I had to wake up at 3am to get my run. I told our group that I was running a tempo at 4 and surprisingly they showed up! That just shows what a great group of guys that we train with. It was John and Isaac that showed up for the tempo. It was pitch black out, so I brought this huge spot light to try to brighten things up a bit, but it died 5 minutes into our run. It was definitely a run to remember!

Thursday - 5 at relaxed pace. It was my first time to run in our lake house that we rented, so I didn't know what to expect. It was super hilly because we were in the Ozark mountains, so no easy run was truly easy.

Friday - 8 at relaxed pace. Took it easy and ran around throughout the roads that were there. It was a cool view! Also I got to spend time at the lake which was very fun.

Saturday - 7 miles total. I was going to do a fartlek, but I thought I better take advantage of these great hills. It had a ridiculous incline, which really made the hills in Texas look like a speed bump.

Sunday - 4 miles easy relaxed. Clark flew in today, so I got to run with him for a day. We also celebrated my grandpa's birthday that day, so that was fun! It was the last day on our visit to Arkansas.

Weekly Mileage: 47
