Saucony Flo50 Summer Training Blog: Carter Blunt

Week 1 (June 30 - July 5)

After a long and fun track season, I start my first week of training. I always like to take my first week easy, just to get my body use to running again. I always take one day off on the first week back to help my body recover from the pounding and stress. It's hard to hold yourself back from running too quick too soon, but I've noticed that it definitely pays off in the long term process.

On the personal note I'm visiting Florida from July 1st through the 5th We are staying at my brother's house (Clark) while he is working at an internship for Boeing. It's nice to have a brother who runs in college to train with. He showed me some pretty cool places to run. Also I found out the hard way that Florida humidity is no joke. Overall the trip was a blast and enjoyed spending time with family at starting my training back up!

Monday: 5.5 - easy relaxed pace. We ran a secret rock road that we found a while back. I ran this with Russell Miller( teammate from Independence HS) and John LePino (an old friend who who goes to a boarding school In Connecticut).

Tuesday: 5.5 - easy relaxed pace. We ran this on a local cross country course. Ran this with John , Russell, and Isaac Moralez (also a teammate from Independence HS).

Wednesday: 5.5 - easy relaxed pace. We decided to take a little trip to this really neat hiking trail. The trail had been closed for awhile due to the Monsoon that swept through Texas. the lack of activity provided plenty of time for the spiders to create hundreds of webbed traps for us to run through. It was a long 5.5 miles to say the least. Also this day we flew out to Florida to meet up with some family.

Thursday: 5.5 - easy relaxed pace. My brother had to work all day so he had to wake up at 4 to run. I decided to sleep in and just run on the beach.

Friday: 5.5 - easy relaxed pace. Clark didn't have to work so we got to sleep in and run together. He took me to this middle school that had a nice mile loop of grass around it. The humidity was pretty tough that day but really enjoyed getting to run with my brother again!

Saturday: 7 - easy relaxed pace. It was the 4th, so we got our run out of the way quick. We went back to the middle school loop again. We went a little bit quicker then I wanted to but it felt good and relaxed.

Sunday: off

Weekly Mileage: 34.5
