With the top guys all running under 4:10 in the mile this could be anyones race! Two of the top guys in the field are Matthew Novak of Deep Run Virginia who ran a 4:06.68 1600m to take second at the Dogwood Track Classic, and Ryan Adams of Cuyahoga Valley Ohio who won the Ohio State Meet 1600m with a 4:07.12. Novak's 1600m time converted to a mile is 4:08.11 while Adams converted mile time is 4:08.55!
Novak finished fourth in the mile at New Balance Nationals Indoor last winter with a time of 4:11.15. Novak placed highest out of all the juniors in the field finishing sixth at last years New Balance Nationals Outdoor. This year as a senior the nine time state champion will look for the win coming in with the fastest time in the field.
Another name to watch will be Sam Ritz from Germantown Pennsylvania, he finished just in front of Novak placing 3rd in the mile at New Balance Nationals Indoor this year, and was fourth in the Penn Relays mile (4:09.94). Ritz also has some leg speed running a 1:50.72 in the 800m to place first at The 10th Annual John Hay Memorial Pennsylvania Distance Festival.
