Arizona will be well represented at the Brooks PR Invitational.  Three top athletes received a Golden Ticket Invitation to the prestige event at the Dempsey Center in Seattle, Washington.  The meet consists of six events; 60 meter hurdles, 60 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, the mile and the two mile.  The event starts tomorrow at 3:30 PM Pacific Time.

Devon Allen, Sr., Brophy College Prep (photo left), will be running the 60 Meter Hurdles.  Allen ran to a 7.8 3rd place finish last year at this event and is considered one of the favorites.  Allen became a hurdler as a sophomore after an injury kept him from sprinting.  He broke the Arizona State record several times in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdle and finished the season US#5 in both the 110 and 300 hurdles.  Allen will be competing for the University of Oregon next year.

"I want to run at least a 7.5 in the 60h and I don't feel ready as of now but I will be.  And I look forward to meeting new people at the Brooks PR Invitational.  I am also looking forward to the Arcadia Invitational and USA JR Nationals this year."

Bernie Montoya, Sr., Cibola (photo right), will be taking on the 2 mile at the meet. Montoya is well known Nationally for his incredible 4:01.32 win at the Jim Ryan Dream Mile last June.  He also finished 2nd in the 3200 meter run at the Arcadia Invitational with a time of 8:48.25 putting him in the #2 spot on the US leader board. The ASU bound Montoya enters the 2 mile as one of the favorites.

"I am extremely excited about going to the Brooks PR invitational! It's a huge honor to be invited  and I am looking  forward to this weekend! This will be my first time in Seattle Washington and my first indoor race, so this will all be new to me. I'm mostly excited to check out Seattle and hang out with the athletes at on the trip including AZ locals Devon Allen and Ryan Silva! I can't ask for a better way to kick off the track season this spring. I do have goals in my mind but I like to keep it simple and have fun this track season. I just want to be competitive in every race that I run. I'm still hungry and driven to be at my very best on the day of competition. With the guidance that coach Kris Norton has given me I feel very comfortable with my training and together we will finish up the senior year with a smile!"

Ryan Silva, Sr., Rincon University (photo left), will be racing in the mile.  Silva enters the competitive race with a personal best of 4:10.33 and is looking to shave a few seconds off his time.
