Amador Valley senior Derica Sun won the CIF-North Coast Section Division I championship running 18:18.00 over the 3-mile course at Hayward HS to beat junior teammate Hope Bergmark by 2.50 seconds. Last year, Su placed second to Bergmark by 42 seconds. In both years, Amador Valley had the first three runners across the line. In 2018, senior Ashley Baudin was third. This fall, it was sophomore Ella McCarthy in third as Amador Valley won a second consecutive title.
