Hayes Breaks FL State Record for Mile in NY race Jun 14, 2010

Shelby Hayes finished in second place just minutes ago at the Jim Ryun Dream Mile in New York. Hayes went into the absolutely stacked field not considered one of the favorites. She shaved ~8 seconds off of her previous best to run an unofficial 4:43 for the full mile [her previous best 1600m time was 4:50.54]. That time is a new state record over legends such as Jenny Barringer, Jackie Areson, Betty Jo Springs, and Robin Campbell. Results, photos, videos, etc. now posted.

Some of the best the State has seen.  This year he was the Ohio State Indoor champion at 1600 meters with a national best time of 4:09.53 and he has the fastest 1600 in this years outdoor campaign, leading up to this Saturdays State Championships, with a time of 4:11.99.  He has personal bests of:
