Q&A with the most decorated prep athlete in Louisiana state history
Tamari Davis is only a 7th grader, but Saturday she will line up next to girls four and five years older at Flo Golden South. Davis isn't threatened though, feeling as if she belongs right next to them, and says she's been working hard to run at this meet where she failed to qualify for the finals last year running 12s. We caught up with her Coach Gary Evans to talk about this special athlete and her preparation for the weekend.

New Balance professional Trayvon Bromell, one of the best young sprinters in the country, ran the Golden South Classic three times in his high school career and won the 100m race as a senior in 10.27s! We caught up with Trayvon to talk about his memories of the Golden South Classic and it's springboard to future success.

Former Oak Ridge standout and current Florida Gator Sharrika Barnett wowed the crowd when she scorched the track at last year's Golden South Classic running 52.89 for 400m which is nearly half a second faster than the next closest time in the last decade! We take a look at the 50 fastest marks since 2006 in the girls sprint/hurdle events. Which athletes will add their name to this list in 2016?

The most exciting non Brooks PR qualifying race could be the boys 110m hurdles. We profile American Heritage senior McKinly Brown who owns the most state titles in the field, but might just be the most overshadowed. Brown will also compete in his favorite event the 400m hurdles and has more experience than his competition with the 4th fastest time in the country to his credit.
Tyree Hill of Georgia went beast mode at the 2012 Golden South Classic running 10.19 in the 100m prelims and closing out the night with a 20.14 in the 200m dash! Haines City junior Amuru Patterson opened up eyes all season when she ran 11.57w at the Pre-State and followed that up with wind legal times of 11.63 and 11.64 at district and regionals and 23.85 in the 200 at the same regional meet. Patterson went onto win her first two state titles, capturing gold in the 100 and 200m dash for class 4A. Current Florida Gators Darrielle McQueen (pictured) and Kimani Rushing are the only two to clear 40 feet in the triple jump in the last ten years at Golden South.
