How long should a high school girl not run after her season ends. Should she do cross training two weeks after her season ends, or wait till track preparation kicks in. Is it normal for them to gain some weight from not running?

Rest two weeks and do something fun! If running is fun for them then run on trails with friends and have fun. Nothing strenuous. Weight gain should not be an issue if proper nutrition is followed.
