No, athletes do not have to win at state to make the field for the MOC. If athletes make the finals at state, they are in the MOC selection pool.

Oh ok cool and does that go for the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay teams as well. Make it to the finals there in the pool for the M.O.C.

The idea of the Meet of Champions is to have the top 16 fastest athletes in all events including relays. If you win the state meet in any Classification your relay gets an automatic bid. We will then pick the next 8-9 from the fastest finishers at the state meet or on mile split. We can have up to two wild card spots. This means if a team has a fast time but falters at the sectional or state they can still be in the Meet of Champions.

Seems like the boys have a better 1600/3200 schedule for anyone wanting to double. Boys run at 1:40/7:15. Girls have to run at 1:20/4:40, potentially the hottest part of the day. Could be tough, but I guess they don't have to run both. Just thinking about trying to get the top 16/event. I hope it won't be, but it could be 90s for both of the girls' distance races. Just curious as to why the girls' 3200 can't be later in the evening like the boys' 3200. Either way, I think it will be a great meet. Hope to be a part of it.

No all Star relays are allowed. The relays are only the same high school team that ran at the state meet. As far as the schedule is concerned. We have changed it to try to accommodate as many people as possible. If we were to have several kids that want to double then we can try to make a change. I have not heard from any distance folks about the schedule. I am willing to listen to any and all suggestions.

Why not run the girls 3200 right before the boys? Why just throw them into the middle of the meet? It's more rest for any hurdle people on a 4x4 team.

Talked to Coach Judge, the Girls 3200 will be moved to later time, probably right before the boys.

Many of the kids will be chosen prior to the state meet. We have already contacted many of the state leaders and top 5-6. There are kids that will get automatic bids. All the state Champions will get automatic bids. We plan to announce the kids that are chosen a day or two after the state meet.

@THROW_1_DEEP I think that you will produce faster times in the 3200 if you simply move it after the 4x400. Keep the 4x4 where it is and just keep a break in there if anybody is doing the 300 hurdle and 4x4 double (or add in the 4x800? or some sort of awards presentation?). It may not seem like much, but distance runners do better once the sun goes down, which isn't until 8:37pm that day. They have the 3200 after the 4x400 at both state meets now, so it might be a good idea to move it there for the Meet of Champions too. But I also understand the mindset of finishing your meet with the 4x400, which is hands down the most exciting event in track and field.

@THROW_1_DEEP Today at Sectional - Mill Creek I handed out flyers promoting the M of C - jumpers challenge/competition. AS COACH JUDGE WRITES ON THIS POST, ALL STATE CHAMPIONS RECEIVE AUTOMATIC SLOTS. THE TOP 20 OVERALL WILL RECEIVE INVITATIONS! B-) As a coach, I've noted today a couple of good performers who had poor performances. It remains to be seen, but we anticipate a few QUALIFIERS for the Meet of Champions may not have competed at State.8-o Our direction and commitment is to have the meet represented by the top 20 jumpers. State meet & MileSplit is the measuring tape:-?! Contact me at jumpdocg@yahoo.com if you have questions.....I was thinking today about the possibility of having TIES in the top 20. **share your views; should we do a count down for 2nd best performance to break ties?:-(S-)

Coach Goss...It is your field to fill. We are wanting to keep our entries to the top 16 in the state. You are welcome to bring 20 athletes to the meet!! We want the fields to be 16 if possible in all events. If you feel 20 athletes deserve to compete then we will have 20. To stay within the schedule we really cant go over 20. Please keep that in mind when you are sending the invitations. If an athlete has a conflict or is not able to compete for some reason then we can invite the next athlete on the list!
