Georgetown University has gained the commitment of Annandale North Hunterdon (NJ) High School's Chloe Gonzalez.
Gonzalez, one of New Jersey's top distance runners and an outdoor Meet of Champions winner in the 1600m, kept her main interests within the Big East Conference, visiting the University
of Pennsylvania, Villanova University and Georgetown.
However, Gonzalez knew the
Hoyas and the nation's capital was the place for her.
The New Jersey
distance runner has started off the 2019 cross country season with a 21 second
PR and NJ No. 2 time of 17:45 at the New Balance Shore Coaches Invitational. The senior is looking to improve on her runner-up performance of 18:09 at the NJSIAA XC Meet of Champions.
Gonzalez also finished last outdoor season at her peak. She ran a US No. 19 in
the 1600m (4:47.21) win the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions for a new personal
best. The senior also holds PRs of 2:15.15 in the 800m and 10:45.06 in the
3200m for top marks in the state.
shown major improvement throughout her high school career. She's dropped minutes from her high school debut: 21:03, 11:30.48 and 5:08.81.
The North Hunterdon senior doesn't seem
to be slowing down anytime soon, making her a steal for the Hoyas. The women of Georgetown
will definitely use the Gonzalez in pursuit of their fifth Big East Cross Country
Championship, after finishing second last year.
