Archer High School's (GA), Myles Collins competing at the Foot Locker South Region meet last fall.
We looked to see who has had the most early-season improvement in the 5K from freshman year to senior year for the Class of 2020. We took the Class of 2020's freshman year best 5K times from Aug. 1, 2017, to Sept. 9, 2017, and compared them to what they've run so far in 2019 for the same timeframe.
Leading the way is Archer High School's Myles Collins. Collins ran a 17:02 5K at the Saucony Battle of Atlanta on Aug. 26, 2017, and he has already run two minutes faster as a senior at the first Athens Academy High School Home Meet on Aug. 31, 2019. Cole Sprout, who's run the fastest 5K time in the nation for seniors, has improved by 46.6 seconds. He clocked a 15:25.00 as a freshman at the Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational, and this year he clocked a 14:38.40 to win the Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational.
