* Matthew Boling's 100m dash at the TSU Relays

This weekend, Houston Strake Jesuit's (TX) Matthew Boling had a pretty crazy weekend.
He clocked ridiculous wind-legal US No. 1 times in both the 100m and 200m at the Texas Southern Relays, and against solid competition, too.
In the 100m, against 3-time Louisiana state indoor 60 meter champion Corey Wren, Boling ran 10.22 (+1.3), and then followed it up with a 20.58 in the 200m into a -0.6 headwind.
Looking further, these times put him in elite company with athletes who ended their high school careers on the all-time list, in at least one of the events.
According to Boling's profile, this was the senior's debut in the 100m dash. In the 200m, he dropped over a half a second off his PR of 21.20 in 2018 to his best on Saturday of 20.58, which marks a 0.62-second improvement year-over-year.

Boling has some of the fastest times ever run in the month of March.
In the 100m, according to the MileSplit database, he has the fastest time ever run before March 29. And for all times on or before April 1, Boling is only behind Florida's Anthony Schwartz.
Schwartz ran 10.15 to win the Pepsi Florida Relays in 2017 and then went 10.16 to win it the next year -- he also went 10.18 in the prelims that same year.

In the 200m, Boling has a little more company for fast performances in March.
His 20.58 sits at No. 4 all-time for the month. He's behind Schwartz (20.47), California's Michael Norman (20.55) and Miami Norland's (FL) Tyrese Cooper (20.55).
Boling's time from the prelim ranks No. 7 all-time before April 1, while his finals time ranks fourth.

The University of Georgia signee has the second best-combined rank for any period before April 1 all-time.
And the only athlete ahead of him is Schwartz, whose combined time is 30.62. Boling's mark in the 100m and 200m combined, meanwhile, is 30.80 and ranks US No. 13 all-time for any month.
If Boling can keep improving the way he's been doing, then we could see him make his mark on 100m or 200m the all-time lists.
In 2018, when Schwartz ran 10.16 in the 100m during the month of March, he went on to run 10.09 for US No. 3 all-time. Norman witnessed the same results when he ran 20.55 in March of his senior year, then went on to clock a wind-aided 20.06 (2.8) and wind-legal times of 20.14, 20.15, 20.17, and 20.21 ...re-writing the top all-time 200m list.
