This photo is from the boys 5A University Interscholastic League (UIL) 3200m race in 2013. Both the Woodlands (TX) and Southlake (TX) have had dominant distance program over the past 10 years; both teams rank as some of the top teams in the nation in the 1600m and 3200m.
The Decade of Dominance rankings looks at the best 100 teams in each of the events below over the past 10 years.
To do this, we took the time of the top runner from every school over the past 10 years. We then took the average time of those top 10 runners to give us the top average. So on average, the No. 1 100m runner at DeSoto (TX) over the last 10 years is 10.48.
In the 3200m Carmel High School (IN) has a 9:08.08 from their top 10 runners over the past 10 years. Looking at these rankings you can tell which teams have developed strong distance or sprint programs. Many have become powerhouses in not only their state but nationally as well.
