Bridget Blake of Dr. Phillips finished off her senior cross country season with a bang! In her second appearance as a Foot Locker National finalist, she improved upon last year's 38th place to finish in 15th to gain third team All-American status.

Blake ran a very disciplined and smart race. While the leader opened the race in a blazing66 seconds for the first 400 meters, Bridget and her South teammates hung back. Bridget hovered between 10th and 20th place during the entire race, which is the challenging Balboa Park course that pits runners against a tough hill twice through that can really put a hurting on legs that second loop!

As the fifth finisher from the South, Bridget's 15th place rounded out the scoring for the team and helped them to earn a second place team finish. The South boys, who had no Florida representation this year, took home the victory to make all of us Southerners a little prideful this weekend!

Great job to Bridget, the rest of the South athletes, and all of the qualifiers. As they can all atest to, this truly one of the best experiences a high school runner can have! So glad Bridget got to do it twice in her career!
