Essex County Championships, NJ

Highlights

  • US#1 Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep) broke his own course record  of 14:20 with a huge victory in 14:18.7, winning by close to 2 minutes!

 

Shore Conference Championships, NJ

Highlights

US#1 Christian Brothers Academy (NJ) rolled to victory with a score of 27 points and an amazing average of 15:08.67 over 5k acheived with a mind-boggling 7 second 1-5 spread!  CBA took 5 of the top-8 spots overall and had 6 runners in the top-10.  Thomas O'Neill (Middletown North) won the individual title with a time of 15:03.86.  

 

Indiana State Championships, IN

Coverage

Highlights

  • Anna Rohrer won the girls state title with a quick time of 17:13.2 over Ashley Erba (Warsaw) in 2nd with a time of 17:29.  5 girls went under Erba's old course record as times were blazing on this cool but windy day.  Bobbie Burgess (West Lafayette) was 3rd in 17:51.60, Mackenzie Caldwell (Columbus North) was 4th in 17:55.80 and Bethany Neeley (Eastern) was 5th in 18:04.20.  Carmel won the girls race pretty handidly with 66 points and a 43 second spread.
  • In the boys race Carmel also won with 93 points in a close one with West Lafayette, 116 points.  Carmel packed 'em in in an impressive 9 seconds as West Lafayette had a 37 second spread.  Connor Sorrells (Barr-Reeve) won individually with a time of 15:21.30 over Zachary Panning (Fort Wayne Concordia) in 15:26.50.  Troy Reeder (Hamilton Southeastern) was 3rd in 15:28.80.  

 

Kansas State XC Champs 3A/5A/6A, KS

Highlights

  • 6A Girls: US#15 Alli Cash (Shawnee Mission West) won by over a minute with a 4k time of 14:02.80, crushing her winning time from last year by over 30 seconds.  Olathe East won the team title with a score of 89 points.  
  • 6A Boys: Colton Donahue (Stilwell) won the individual crown with a time of 15:22.40.  Shawnee Mission Northwest won the team title with 43 points.

 

MHSAA D1 Region 7 Champs, MI

Highlights

  • In girls action Erin Finn (West Bloomfield) is back in action and strong as ever after battling an iron deficiency for most of the season, winning by 44 seconds with a solid time of 17:50.8.  Birmingham Seaholm won the girls team title with a tight pack, scoring 29 points.
  • Waterford Mott dominated the team action in the boys race with 28 points scored as Nathan Burnand led the squad with his winning time of 15:52.5.  

 

MHSAA D1 Region 6 Champs, MI

Highlights

  • Highland Milford won the boys team crown easily with 55 points after taking 3 of the top-4 spots.  Brian Kettle led the team with his winning time of 15:25.08.

Highlights

  • At the Concorde District Champs US#4 Sean McGorty and US#13 Chantilly dominated with Chantilly scoring 19 points to 64 for James Robinson.  Mcgorty won by a minute with a time of 14:38 over the 2.98 mile course.  The Oakton girls won in a tight battle over James Robinson with a score of 40 to 45.  Allie Klimkieicz won overall for Oakton with a time of 17:36 over Robinson's Macey Schweikert in 17:37.  Concorde Champs Photo Album by Steve Pham   
  • At the Patriot District Champs Sophie Chase (Lake Braddock) won with a time of 17:02 over Caroline Alcorta (West Springfield) who was 2nd in 17:09.  Lake Braddock dominated by winning with 25 points and a 17:54 average.  Lake Braddock also won the boys race with 55 points and Nick Tuck led the way with a time of 15:11.  Patriot Champs Photo Album by Steve Pham

 

North Dakota State XC Championships, ND

Highlights

  • Class A Boys: Jake Leingang (Bismarck) won the individual title by nearly a minute with a winning time of 15:09.3.  Bismarck handidly won the team crown with 43 points, their 8th straight state title!!  
  • Class A Girls: Bismarck also won the girls team crown with 42 points, helped by sweeping the first two place.  Brittany Brownotter won the race with a 4k time of 14:47.8 and Alexis Zeis was 2nd in 14:52.6.

 

Colorado State XC Championships, CO

Highlights

  • 5A Boys: Ashi Geberkidane (Denver East) won the individual title with a time of 16:21.7 and brother Cerake was 3rd in 16:38.1.  Mountain Vista won the team battle over Fairview 103 to 116.  
  • 5A Girls: Monarch won a close battle over Fort Collins 91 to 98 with Pine Creek a close 3rd with 100 points.  Heather Bates (Pine Creek) won individually with a time of 18:16.5.  
  • 4A Boys: Coronado won the team title with 65 points as Eli Hemming (Ponderosa) was the individual champ with a time of 16:30.4.  
  • 4A Girls: Classical Academy won the team title with 98 points.  Elise Cranny (Niwot) won individually with a time of 18:41.3 in a tight battle over Katie Rainsberger (Air Academy) who was 2nd in 18:41.4.  

 

West Virginia State XC Champs, WV

Highlights 

  • Jacob Burcham (Cabell Midland) won the boys AAA race with a state record clocking of 14:58.04.  Cabell Midland won the team title with just 37 points.
  • Maggie Drazba (St. Mary's) shattered the course record in the girls AA-A race with a time of 17:17.89.

  • Girls
    • ​Bethanie Brown (Waterville) won with a quick time of 17:56.32, over a minute up on 2nd place! 
  • Boys
    • Dan Curtis (Ellsworth) had an epic battle with Silas Eastman (Fryeburg Academy) in boys action and wound up winning with a time of 15:47.52 to 15:47.56!

 

Iowa State Championships, IA

Highlights

  • #11 Dowling Catholic HS dominated in 4A action, winning with 60 points and a 1-5 average of 15:32.  Second was Pleasant Valley HS with 112 points.
  • #24th ranked Monticello HS won the 2A division with 52 points and averaged 16:14.
  • #21 ranked Pleasant Valley HS won the 4A Division with 49 points and a 4k average 1-5 of 14:25.  Second went to Linn-Mar with 93 points.
  • #24 ranked Stephanie Jenks, a freshman from Linn Mar, won the individual 4A crown with a time of 13:42.
  • The 3A winner was Anna Holdiman (Waverly-Shell Rock) with a time of 13:51.
  • The 1A winner was Rebekah Topham (Griswold) with a time of 14:05.

 

NCHSAA 4A Mideast Regional, NC

Highlights

  • US#19 BAkri Abushouk (Cary) won the boys individual title with a quick time of 15:11.80, winning by over 30 seconds.  Broughton won over Cary in the team race with a score of 41 to 90.  They had a 16:00 average and a 38 second 1-5 spread.
  • In girls action Green Hope won a tight battle over Broughton 44 to 56 with all 5 scorers in the top-13 overall.  Megan Sullivan (Broughton) won with a quick time of 18:07.80 with Maura McDonnell (Green Hope) 2nd in 18:10.20.  Pegah Kamrani (East Chapel Hill) was 3rd in 18:10.50.

 

Wisconsin State XC Championships, WI

Highlights

  • Division 1 Boys: Ryan Kromer (Hudson) won the individual title with a time of 15:27.17 over McKena Ramos (Sheboygan South) who was 2nd in 15:37.42.  
  • Division 2 Boys: Ryan McCoy (New Glarus) won individually with a time of 15:28.30.  
  • Division 1 Girls: McKaela Christenson (Baraboo) won individually with a time of 14:12.65 over 4k.  

 

Ventura County Championships, CA

Highlights

  • US#1 Sarah Baxter (Simi Valley) rolled to victory with a very fast time of 17:15.01.  

 

Minnesota Sectionals, MN

Highlights

  • MSHSL Section 4AA Championships
    • US#8 Stillwater HS dominated this meet, winning with 26 points and a 49 second spread, putting all 5 scorers in the top-10.  Wayde Hall led the way with a winning time of 15:37.9.  Kevin Docherty (Cretin-Durham Hall) was 2nd in 15:39.7.  
  • MSHSL Section 2AA Championships
    • US#14 Maria Hauger (Shakopee) won her 4th consecutive sectional title with a 4k time of 13:39, winning by 1:04!
  • MSHSL Section 6AA Championships
    • Wayzata dominated the girls race with 21 points scored and a spread of 41 seconds from 1-5.  Edina was 2nd with 76 points a 25 second spread.  Anna French led the way for Wyzata with a winning time of 14:18.8 over the 4k course.
  • MSHSL Section 4A Championships
    • Clare Flanagan (Blake) won the race with a dominating performance by 1:12 with a 4k time of 13:56.16.

 

Arizona Division 1 Sec 1, AZ

Highlights

  • US#3 Bernie Montoya ran a 14:27 for a 5K win at his sectional champs meet.

 

Pennsylvania Districts, PA

District 12 Championships

  • US#7 Cardinal O'Hara was super dominate, winning with 20 points with an incredible spread of 27 seconds from 1-5!  Tom Coyle (LaSalle) (Interview) was the individual winner in 15:59.85 as O'Hara took the next 6 spots in the race.  

District 7 Championships

  • US#20 North Allegheny dominated this race with 50 points and a stellar 18 second 105 spread! Brent Kennedy (Kiski Area) won the individual title with a time of 15:59.  

District 1 Championships

  • US#21 West Chester Henderson won easily over Council Rock North 67 to 133 with a 58 second spread and 15:41 average.  Tony Russell led the way for the squad with his winning time of 15:11!  
  • US#2 Unionville took down rival US#10 Pennsbury 54 to 69 in an amazing race.  Unionville had a solid 52 second spread but Pennsbury put together a fantastic 25 second spread!  In an incredible individual battle Courtney Smith led Unionville with a time of 17:36.  Marissa Sheva (Pennridge) was 2nd in 17:45, Stephanie Aldrich (West Chester Henderson) was 3rd in 17:55 and Kara Steinke (Methacton) was 4th in 17:57.  

 

Section 2 Suburban Champs, NY

Highlights

  • US#11 Academy of the Holy Names rolled, winning with 15 points by sweeping places 1-5 with 6 runners in the top-7.  Catherine Maloy led the way with a winning effort of 17:35.46.  

 

NCISAA State Champs, NC

Highlights

  • 3A Boys: Ben Huffman (Providence Day) won over Colin Godwin (Cary Academy) 15:23.01 to 15:45.35.  
  • 3A Girls: Eliza Dekker (Durham Academy) won with  a quick time of 18:10.16.  

 

HHSAA State XC Championships, HI

Highlights

  • Dakota Grossman (Seabury Hall) won her 3rd straight state title with a time of 20:21.85.  Punahou won the team title with 42 points.
