Jefferson Boys and Morgantown Girls Win at Knight Night 2012

 

With results reminiscent of the 2011 West Virginia High School AAA Cross Country championships, the Jefferson boys and Morgantown girls kicked off their year with a bang by winning the 2012 Knight Night Relays against a strong field on Saturday at Preston HS in Kingwood, WV.  The Jefferson boys placed four runners in the top 10 and defeated hard charging University and third place Parkersburg for the title.

The top three boys’ teams were:

  1. Jefferson A (Ryan Graf, Jimmy Ross, Andrew Milliron, Rhett Zillinger) – 31:04.7
  2. University A (Seth Edwards, Tristan Harvey, Andy Palladino, Alex Minor) -  31:48.5
  3. Parkersburg A (Nick Musgrave, Nic Cheuvront, Brandon McIntyre, John Bolton) – 32:05.5

Tony Hayes of East Fairmont posted the fastest time on the evening completing his 1.5 mile leg in a fast 7:25.6.  Jefferson’s Ryan Graf (7:27.3) and Brody Born (7:32.9) of host Preston rounded out the top three.  Other top ten boys’ individual finishers included:

For the Morgantown girls it was a night to demonstrate their speed and depth by not only taking the title but the second place team finish as well.  University took third place honors.  The top three girls’ teams were:

 

  1. Morgantown A (Victoria Cooke, Brynn Harshbarger, Hannah Pinneault, Kaitlyn Woods) – 36:30.4
  2. Morgantown B (Sydney Pinneault, Andrea Petit, Emma Hagerty, Skylar Brooks)  - 37:24.4
  3. University A (Millie Palladino, Abbey Harrison, Katie Warner, Sydney Dotson) – 37:33.2 

While University’s star runner Millie Palladino posted the fastest time on the evening with a blazing 8:29.7 followed by Preston’s Kaitlyn Workman (8:42.1), Morgantown placed five girls in the top ten led by Brynn Harshbarger’s 8:42.1.
