    Highlights

    • Day 2 - Three state records fell in Saturday's finals at the Wyoming State Indoor Championships in Gillette. Host school Campbell county's own Abby Phillips set a new mark in the 3200 at 11.43.50. Both 800 records fell, the girl's mark to Laramie's Cassidy Meade (2.23.43) and the boy's to Ricky Faure of Rock Springs High School (1.58.93).
Laramie and Cheyenne Central failed to separate themselves after going into Saturday's finals tied with 49 points each, as Cheyenne Central captured the meet-ending 4x400, while Laramie failed to gain the one point they needed by finishing .09 second out of 8th place, lifting Central to an 85-point tie. Other than the relay win by Central, neither team had an event winner on the final day.

Ricky Faure of Rock Springs added a new 800 state (1.58.93) record to his Friday 1600 win, and Kolby Kester of Green River snagged both short races, the 55 (6.62) and 55h (7.53). Another Green River runner, Devin Harrison, captured the 200 (22.84) to give the Wolves a sweep of the sprint/hurdle finals. Other winners included Oliver Scofield of Star Valley (Afton) in the 3200, with a -10 second negative split to finish at 9.52.40; Tanner Fischer of Kelly Walsh (Casper) in the HJ (6-00); Ryan Anaya of Natrona County (Casper) in the LJ  (21-06-5); and Campbell County (Gillette) in the 4x200 (1.32.93).

East (85) outpaced Campbell County (79.5) and 3A school Cody (74) for the team victory. Highlights

    • Shayla Sanders looks dominant with two US #1s in the 100 (11.56) and 200 (23.25). Both wins were over teammate Kali Davis-White, who also competed at Brooks PR with Shayla in the 60, who laid down 11.88 and 24.01, respectively. All of those times were into a headwind.
    • Robin Reynolds widened her US #1 time with a 53.84 400m that went along with another US #1 19-8.25 long jump win and respectable showings in teh 100 (12.27) and 200 (24.27).
    • Sanders and Davis-White also helped their Boyd Anderson team to a US #1 4x100 with a 45.94 that was ove ra second better than St. Thomas Aquinas could muster.
    • Arman Hall extended his national lead the 400 with a 46.41, and added an all-conditions US #1 in the 200 (21.14) to go along with his windy 21.03 last week.
    • All-conditions 110 and 300 Hurdles leader Artie Burns couldn't quite match the wind-aided numbers he put up last week, but won the 110s easily with a 14.42 into a strong headwind. He tried his hand at the 400 against Arman (not a normal event for him) and ended up second with a very respectable 47.36.
    • With Burns trying some other events, Maurice Dix took advantage and won the 300H in 37.65, just a tad slower than his US #2 37.17 from last week.
    • St. Thomas Aquinas nothced the early season US #1 time in the 4x4 with a 3:15.62 over a 3:16.20 by American Heritage. And Miami Carol City is the current national leader in the 4x800 with their 8:01.18.
    • Seventh grader Daesha Rogers cruised to a 2:13.78 win in the 800 and 5:10 in the 1600. She is looking to go sub 2:10 and around 4:50 this year, which obviously would be incredible for anyone... let alone a 7th grader.

    • Tristie Johnson did a number on the sprints! She swept with 11.71 in the 100, 23.82 (wind-aided) in the 200, and 47.24 in the 400. Not a bad day!
    • Stefanie Kurgatt, junior at Maclay School, sped to a 10:39.08 over Foot Locker finalist Bridget Blake's 10:43. This follows Kurgatt's 4:56 1600 last week.
    • Kendal Williams, fresh off his Brooks PR in the 60 last week, smoked a 10.39 in the 100 (with a little help from the wind) and came back to win the 200 in a 21.09, which was also aided.
