39th Annual Manhattan Invitational, NY

Highlights

  • Boys Eastern States: US#1 Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's Prep) (Interview) blasted a US#17 all-time 11:55.39 to win and set a new course record!  US#1 Christian Brothers Academy (NJ) won the boys team title with 60 points over US#4 Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) who had 103 points.  CBA had a team average of 13:01.22.  Tim Ball (Piscataway NJ) was 2nd with a clocking of 12:21.02.
  • Girls Eastern States: US#16 Jillian Fanning (F-M NY) won the girls championship with a clocking of 14:03.8.  Brianna Nerud (North Shore NY) upset US#8 Haley Pierce (Tatnall DE) to finish 2nd in 14:22.6.  Pierce was 14:25.8.  US#1 Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) (Interview) won the team title with 45 points and a 14:47.30 average.
  • Boys Varsity A: Thomas Awad (Chaminade NJ) (Interview) won individually with a time of 12:57.24.  Collegiate School got by Chaminade in team scoring 107 to 121.
  • Girls Varsity A: Tara Hanley (Chatham) won the individual race with a time of 15:33.9.  Academy of Holy Names won the team title with 44 points.
  • Boys Varsity B: Mike Marsella (Chariho) won handily with a time of 12:43.47 over teammate Jacob Kilcoyne, 13:04.73.  Chariho won the team title with 61 points.
  • Girls Varsity B: Meghan McGovern (North Penn PA) (Interview) won with a time of 14:47.8 as North Penn (PA) also took the team race with 70 points. 
  • Boys Varsity C: Stephen Lewandowski (Mountain Lakes) won with a time of 12:59.14.  La Salle College (PA) won the team title with 45 points, led by Tom Coyle (Interview), 2nd in 13:04.99.
  • Girls Varsity C: Talia Guevara (Miller Place) (Interview) won with a time of 15:29.9 while Liverpool (NY) won the team race with 114 points.
  • Boys Varsity D: Brendan Smith (CBA NY) (Interview) won the race with a time of 12:50.99 over Blake Udland (Millburn NJ) who ran 12:56.37.  Walt Whitman won the team title with just 45 points.  
  • Girls Varsity D: Colette Richter (Mountain Lakes) won in 15:16.6 as Pearl River won the team race with 78 points.
  • Boys Varsity E: John Lee (Shoreham) (Interview) won individually with a time of 13:12.83 while Lowell won the team title with 55 points.
  • Girls Varsity E: Mary Cain (Bronxville) won the race with a time of 14:31.1 to lead her team to the title with 53 points.
  • Boys Varsity F: Konrad Surkont (Stuyvesant) (Interview) won in 13:06.47 while St. John the Baptist (NY) won the team title with 73 points.  
  • Girls Varsity F: Rachel Christ (Rumson-Fair Haven) won in 15:09.4 to lead her team to victory with 72 points.
  • Boys Varsity G: Stephen Bourget (Manhasset) (Interview) won the individual title with a time of 13:18.65.  Smithtown won the team title with 93 points.

  • Craig Nowak (Houston Cypress Woods) won the Boys Varsity Elite race in 15:10.6 over the 5K course.
  • Karis Jochen (College Station A&M) ran a time of 17:55.7 to win the Girls Varsity Elite 5K race.
  • US#9 Kingwood TX Girls lose to US#14 Southlake Carroll 57-93. Running  an 18:54 team average over the 5000 meter course.  Southlake eader Ashley Mills finished 14th in 19:03, Catie Daigre 15th in 19:04, Sandie Raines 16th in 19:05, Laura Craig 20th in 19:17, Grace Howley 28th in 19:36.  The Kingwood girls ran Run a 19:13 team average over 5000 meter course. Leader Ashley Mills finished 14th in 19:03, Catie Daigre 15th in 19:04, Sandie Raines 16th in 19:05, Laura Craig 20th in 19:17 and Grace Howley 28th in 19:36.
  • US#7 Palos Verdes CA Boys finished 2nd to US#5 Southlake Carroll TX  32-75.  Southlake leader Joe Sansone finished 3rd in 15:36 with teammate Ben Golestan 5th in 15:46,  Jordan Chavez  6th in 15:49, Trevor Gilley 7th in 15:49, Alexander Johansson 11th in 15:54. The team averaged 15:47.4 for the 5000 meter course.  Palo Verdes leader Jonah Diaz finished 2nd in 15:14, Justin Unno 9th in 15:52, Rylan Dreibelbis 16th in 16:10, Daniel Rieger 23rd in 16:31, Alec Dunton 25th in 16:33.  The team averaged 16:04.5 for the 5000 meter course.

 

WDA Championships, ND

Highlights

  • US#3 Bismarck (ND) scored a perfect 15 points to take the team title as the teams 2-5 spread was a measly 7 seconds!  US#10 Jake Leingang led the way, winning with a time of 15:50.  Austin Todd was 2nd in 16:41, Brandon Berg was 3rd in 16:42, Lane Kashur was 4th in 16:44, and Preston Lerew was 5th in 16:48.
  • Bismarck also took the girls race, winning a close one over Century, 43 to 47.  Jordan Jacob (Century) won the 4k race in 15:10.  

 

Asics Clovis Inviational, CA

Highlights

  • Varsity Girls 5: US#19 Karlie Garcia (Oakmont) recorded the fastest time of the day with her winning time of 17:23.  Hagen Reedy (Buchanan) was 2nd in 17:43.  Grenada (CA) won the team title with 154 points.
  • Varsity Boys 6: US#14 CJ Albertson (Buchanan) got by some talented runners for the win in 15:01, which is the fastest time of the day.  Bryan Guijarro (Knight) was 2nd in 15:07 to edge out US#13 Dallin Farnsworth (Highland ID) who was 3rd in 15:13.  Trabuco Hills (CA) dominated the team race with 57 points and a 15:38 average per runner.  When combining all 147 teams Trabuco Hills shows their dominance even more as they only tack on a few extra points to win with 79 points!     
  • Varsity Boys 4: Watchlister Daniel Martinez (St. John Bosco) won this race with ease in 15:16 over teammate Myles Smith who ran 15:34.  Martinez had the 4th fastest time of the day behind the top-3 from the Varsity 6 race.

 

Oakland County Championships, MI

Highlights

  • US#5 Erin Finn (West Bloomfield) smoked the field with her winning time of 17:41.11, 1:09 up on 2nd place Brooke Kovacic (Oxford) who ran 18:50.14.
  • In the boys race Cody Snavely (Highland MIlford) won with a time of 16:11.25.

 

Richland Invitational, WA

Coverage

Highlights

  • US#4 Anthony Armstrong (Kamaikan) smoked a course record clocking of 14:52.03 for 3 miles to edge out Santos Vargas (Eisenhower), 14:54.38.  North Central (WA) won the boys team race with 108 points.
  • Jordan Mcphee (Mt. Rainier) won the girls race comfortably with a time of 17:35.86.  Henry Jackson (WA) won the team title with 96 points.

 

Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational, WI

Highlights

  • US#3 Molly Seidel (Sr.,  University Lake)  took "the road less traveled" on her way to the finish line.  Seidel veered off couse 150 meters before realizing her mistake and taking several runners with her.  She got back on course in 7th place before winning the race with a 26 second lead over 2nd place.  Seidel finished the 4K run in 14:31.50.
  • Patrick Campbell (Jr., Wauwatosa) won the boys 5K race in 16:06.58.

 

Disney Cross Country Classic, FL

Coverage

Highlights

  • Varsity 3A girls: Olivia Ortiz (Lakewood Ranch) won with a swift time of 17:56.90, the fastest time of the day.  Kacy Smith (Estero) was 2nd in a time of 18:17.50.  Estero (FL) beat up on Lakewood Ranch (FL) in the team competition, winning 40 to 76.
  • Varsity 2A girls: Watchlister Shelby Davidson (FL) stormed to victory with a time of 18:10.53.  Cocoa Beach also won the team title with 54 points.
  • Varsity 1A boys: Ryan Gousse (Trinity Prep) won over teammate Daniel Salas as the pair ran the fastest two times of the meet in 15:48.97 and 16:00.56 (though they ran on Friday before rain made the course even tougher for Saturdays portion of the meet).  Trinity Prep (FL) won the team title with 40 points.  
  • Varsity 3A boys: Aaron Rojas (Estero) won with a time of 16:03.60 despite muddy conditions.  Fort Walton Beach (FL) won the team title with 60 points.
  • Varsity 4A boys: Colby Coulter (Lexington) won with an impressive 16:01.50 clocking despite the conditions as teammate Tony Morales was 2nd in 16:08.10.  Lexington (FL) put 5 in the top-8 to win easily with 20 points.  

 

Oxford Classic, OR

Highlights

  • Boys Elite Varsity: Travis Neuman (Summit) blasted a 15:20.1 to win over teammate Eric Alldritt who ran 15:58.  Summit (OR) put 4 in the top-6 as they won impressivley with 28 points.  
  • Girls Elite Varsity: Summit (OR) wowed with just 21 points as they took the top-3 places.  Megan Fristoe led the way with her winning time of 18:12.1.  
  • Girls Invitational Varsity: Alisha Luna (Klamath Union) won by over a minute with a time of 18:32.3 which would have placed her 3rd in the Elite division.
  • Boys Invitational Varsity: Alex Dillard (Dallas) won the boys race in 16:03.4 and also would have been 3rd in the Elite division.

 

Region IV XC Championships, UT

Highlights

  • US#10 American Fork (UT) put on an impressive display, winning with just 20 points off of a 53 second 1-5 spread and a 16:16.20 average.  The Cavemen took 6 of the top-9 places with Mack Morrison and Clayton Young finishing 1-2 in identical times of 15:53.

 

4 Runners Only XC Carnival, NC

Highlights

  • Girls Open: US#15 Green Hope (NC) put on an impressive display of team strength.  By skipping the Championship race they were able to run as a pack, but therefore had no other runners to push them but themselves.  They scored 15 points obviously, but more impressively averaged 18:43.40 with a 1-5 spread of just 23 seconds.  Maura McDonnell ran 18:32, Erica Amatori ran 18:35, Lauren Colberg ran 18:41, Jessica Rossabi ran 18:54 and Sarah Alexander ran 18:55.
  • Girls Championship: Durham Academy frosh Eliza Decker won easily with an impressive clocking of 17:46 while Anna Mcbride (Davie County) was 2nd in 17:55.  Ardrey Kell (NC) won the team title with 83 points and a 19:01.20 team average as Green Hope's "B" team finished 2nd with 98 points with a solid team average of 19:14.80.
  • Boys Championship: Mark Blackmon (West Charlotte) won the individual title in a tight battle with a time of 15:27.90.  Mason Boyles (Ashley) was 2nd in 15:33.10.  Cardinal Gibbons won the team title with 114 points.  

 

Wickham Park Invitational, CT

Highlights

  • Connor Rog (Fairfield Prep) won handily in the boys Championship race with a time of 15:41, 42 seconds up on 2nd place.  

 

Lions Meet of Champions, MN

Highlights

  • Boys Champs: US#13 Stillwater (MN) won handily with 52 points.  Zach Roozen (Mounds View) won the individual title over Wayde Hall (Stillwater) 15:49 t0 15:52.  Also running for Stillwater were Eric Colvin, 5th in 15:58, Tom Linner, 7th in 16:01, Taylor Aarness, 14th in 16:28, and Matt Chu, 24th in 16:52.
  • Girls Champs: US#13 Monticello (MN) also won with ease with 48 points.  Jamie Piepenberg (Alex) won with a 4k time of 14:20.  Running for Monticello were Erica Seidenkranz, 6th in 14:40, Amber Seidenkranz, 8th in 15:01, Amber Stoick, 9th in 15:01, Mariah Betz, 10th in 15:02, and Krista Steele, 14th in 15:20.

 

Border War Invitational, MO

Highlights

  • US#14 Rock Bridge (MO) boys wrecked house with a 17-point total to win by 99 points.  Caleb Wilfong won the race in 16:21.78 and was joined by his team in the top-10 with Jordan Cook 2nd in 16:31.12, Nathan Keown 3rd in 16:36.71, Evan Schulte 5th in 16:56.91, and Nick Dale 6th in 17:08.67.

 

Andy Meyers Invitational, CO

Highlights

  • US#8 Monarch (CO) girls dominated the scoring with 19 points and a 19:17.38 average, almost a minute better than any other average.  Monarch put 6 in the top-7 as Claire Green won in 18:49, Taylor Floming 3rd in 19:10, Ashley Litoff 4th in 19:12, Kailyn Benner 5thi n 19:26 and Alyssa Reese rounded out the 5 scorers in 6th with a time of 19:48.

Island Empire Challenge, CA

Highlights

  • US#16 Great Oak (CA) girls won with just 40 points.  Megan Huebner (La Quinta CA) won with a clocking of 17:12.6.  Running for Greak Oak were Mayia Larsen, 6th in 17:52, Miranda Kewley, 10th in 18:20, Kim McNamee, 13th in 18:28, Carly Bauer, 14th in 18:29, and Taylor Maggiacomo, 29th in 19:06.
  • US#25 Rancho Cucamonga (CA) boys also won the Sweepstakes race with 30 points.  Porter Reddish (Vista Murietta CA) won the race in 14:54.7, the fastest on the day, in a tight battle with Luis Gutierrez, 2nd in 14:55.2.  Joining Luis for Rancho Cucamonga were Calvin Davis, 4th in 15:05, Austin Esposito, 5th in 15:06, Kevin Matthews, 10th in 15:17, and Jon Dileva, 11th in 15:20.  

 

Helena Invitational, MT

Highlights

  • US#19 Bozeman (MT) girls got things rocking in this 7 flight meet, winning with 11 points as they won 6 out of 7 flights.  In Flight#1 Caroline Hardin was 5th in 18:01, while frosh Makena Morley (Bigfork) blasted a 17:05 for the win.  In Flight#2 Andie Creel won in 17:49.  In Flight#3 Michelle Cline won in 18:31.  In Flight#4 Katie Stephens won in 18:58.  In Flight#5 Brigid Bradshaw won in 19:13.  In Flight#6 Bridget Creel won in 19:11 and in Flight#7 Beth Jansma won in 19:53.

 

Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference Champs, IN

Highlights

  • US#2 Carmel (IN) girls steamrolled to victory with 21 points and an average of 18:17.90, over a minute better than any other team average.  Renee Wellman and Sarah Bennett went 1-2 for Carmel with times of 17:50.50 and 18:05.90.
  • US#16 Carmel (IN) boys also won with 41 points off of a stellar 34 second 1-5 spread.  The team also averaged 16:01.72 over the 5000  meter layout.  US#2 Futsum Zeinasellassie (IN) won individually for the third straight year with a time of 15:34.70.

 

Junior Orange Bowl Invitational, FL

Coverage

Highlights

  • Watchlister Elliot Clemente led Belen Jesuit (FL) to the team victory with just 16 points and a 16:24.93 team average.  Clemente won with a time of 15:54.42 as Belen took 7 of the top-9 places.
  • Ferguson (FL) dominated the girls race with 19 points as Lauren Gonzalez got the individual win in 19:51.20.

 

Male Invitational, KY

Highlights

  • Holy Cross freshman, Karly Gawarecki, won the girls varsity 5K race in 20:08.98, a full minute and 14 seconds over 2nd place.
  • On the boys side junior Jacob Thomson, also from Holy Cross, won in 16:33.40 gaping 2nd place by 1 minute and 24 seconds.

 

Asics Invitational, GA

Highlights

  • Boys Championship: Josh Brickell (GA) smoked the course with a 14:59.02 clocking to win by 26 seconds, further setting himself apart as the top runner in GA and one of the top runners in the nation.  Lakeside Evans (GA) won the boys team title with 47 points.  
  • Girls Championship: Sarah Bowles (Lakeside Evans) won by the slimmest of margins (.01 seconds) over Allie Buchalski (Johns Creek) with times of 18:10.48 to 18:10.49!  Westminster (GA) won the team race with a total of 65 points.

 

Portage Invitational, MI

Highlights

  • US#12 Calvin Christian (MI) won the D3 race by 121 points with a total of 45 points and and a 16:11 average.  They took 4 out of the top-5 places with Justus Pinckney leading the way with his winning time of 15:40.4.  
  • Julia Bos (Jr. Grand Rapids Christian) won the women's dream team race in 17:33 over the 5K course.  Taylor Manett (Sr., Rockford) finished 2nd in 17:46.
  • Bryce Bradley (Sr., Chelsea) won the men's dream team race in 15:31 with Drew Woznick (Jr., Rockford) taking 2nd in 15:39.

 

Southeast XC Showdown, AL
