THE NATIONAL PICTURE

Boys 5K: Robert Jazwinski III of Whitehall remains the national No. 1 at 14:23.85 from the Benzie Pete Moss Invitational on August 22. The national picture will sharpen considerably as major invitationals begin stacking results over the next few weeks.

Girls 5K: Elin Latta of South Texas Heat-Christian holds the national No. 1 at 16:51.99 from the SA Friday Night Lights XC on August 21. Sienna Klemmer of Ann Arbor Pioneer is second nationally at 16:53.37. Natasza Dudek - the reigning national champion who won both NXN and the inaugural Brooks XC Championships last December as a sophomore - has not yet raced this fall. She is a junior at Ann Arbor Pioneer. The longer she waits, the more interesting her opener becomes.
