The third edition of the PR City Invitational ran Friday night under a full moon at SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, the Inland Empire venue that hosted the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic previously. PR City was built partly to fill that void, and on Friday night it delivered the best performances in its short history.

ELITE GIRLS THREE MILE

Girls: Isabella Ruiz of Ontario and Reese Holley of JSerra Catholic ran together through two and a half miles of darkness, neither one separating, both knowing the race would come down to whoever wanted the final 400 meters more. Ruiz answered that question. She crossed the line in 16:18.8, Holley in 16:18.9 - one-tenth of a second after three miles of racing side by side. Addyson Johns of Santiago Corona was third in 16:31.6, more than 13 seconds back. All podium placers broke Braelyn Combe's course record of 16:37.40 from last season and Ruiz moved to the top of the national three-mile rankings. JSerra dominated the team race by 27 points over Santiago and Beckman, running a team average of 17:03 - faster than their winning average of 17:17 from a year earlier.

ELITE BOYS THREE MILE

Boys: Aidan Antonio of Woodbridge ran 14:06.8 to win the Elite Boys Showdown, breaking the meet record and taking the national No. 1 three-mile spot. Redlands East Valley junior Elijah Medina ran 14:14.2 for second. La Serna senior William Thompson placed third in 14:17.1 - a performance that lowered his personal best by 49 seconds. Woodbridge won the team race by two points over Beckman, with San Clemente fourth despite missing three of their usual varsity runners. The full boys top 10: Antonio 14:06.8, Medina 14:14.2, Thompson 14:17.1, Kingsley Lin (Santa Monica, 14:29.4), Ayden Ramirez (Cajon, 14:30.4), Thomas Barrera (La Serna, 14:33.7), Thomas Yohn (Woodbridge, 14:36.2), Yohan Anderson (San Clemente, 14:38.3), Mattheus Dos Santos (San Clemente, 14:38.4), Matthew Barrientos (Burville, 14:38.9).
