Cooper Lutkenhaus Defeats Emmanuel Wanyonyi In Oslo Thriller

Just days after becoming the youngest Diamond League winner in history in Stockholm, Cooper Lutkenhaus delivered another stunning performance, defeating Olympic gold medalist Emmanuel Wanyonyi by one hundredth of a second to win the men's 800m in Oslo in 1:42.08.

Wanyonyi finished second in 1:42.09 after making a late charge, while Marco Arop took third in 1:43.33. Lutkenhaus entered Oslo seeking his first career meeting with the Olympic champion and left with a world lead.

Lutkenhaus' 1:42.08 breaks his personal best of 1:42.27 from last years USATF Championships and resets his U18 World Record and is the third fastest American of all time over 800m.
