Ruston Native Trey Hadnot Finishes Third at USA Championships

 

EUGENE, Ore. - Louisiana Tech freshman Trey Hadnot turned heads this week as the Ruston native finished third in the 200m dash finals at the USA Junior Track and Field Championships at historic Heyward Field in Eugene.

Hadnot first turned heads early Saturday afternoon in the prelims by running 20.89, matching a career-best time and recording the second-fastest time of the entire field and qualifying for the finals. In the finals, Hadnot's time of 20.80 set a new personal record for the true freshman from Ruston High School and placed him third overall.

On the women's side, Chelsea Hayes finished 22nd in the 100m dash prelims with a time of 11.40. She is also scheduled to compete in the long jump Sunday against some of the top collegiate and professional jumpers in the nation.
