Carruthers Qualifies for World Championship in South Korea, Curtis Still a Possibility

 

USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship

 

Former Paducah Tilghman star Danielle Carruthers was second at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 12.59.  She will represent the United States in South Korea at the World Championships from August 27th – September 4th.

 

Former St. Xavier star Bobby Curtis finished fourth in the 10,000 Meter Run with a time of a time of 28:42.  Scott Bauhs was third, but has yet to hit the time standard to run at the World Championships.  Curtis has hit the time standard already, so if Bauhs does not run under the standard then Curtis qualifies for the World Team.

 

Former Lafayette star Tyson Gay was scheduled to run in the 100m and 200m Dashes, but pulled out due to a hip issue.  Gay is the American Record Holder in the 100m Dash as well as the Kentucky High School State Record Holder.

 

Former Mason County/UK star Andy Fryman was 8th overall in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 232-07.  He is the Kentucky High School State Record Holder in the Discus Throw.

 

Allison Grace-Morgan, former UK star and wife of UK XC Coach Thomas Morgan finished 10th overall in the 10,000 Meter Run.

 

UK 800m star Sharif Webb was 14th overall in the 800m with a 1:49.55.

 

Former UL star Rachel Gehret was 9th overall in the High Jump with a leap of 5-10.
