Blair Bartlett does not wait around. On Monday at the Holmdel Night of 3200's, Allison Lee ran 9:46.78 to break the New Jersey 3200m outdoor record - herself clearing the previous mark of 9:53.29 set by Angelina Perez in 2022. Four days later, Bartlett showed up to the NJISAA Prep A Track Championships at the Peddie School in Hightstown and ran 9:45.29.
Bartlett's splits: 1:11.33 through the first quarter, 2:22.34 at halfway, 4:46.55 at the mile, closing her final 400 in 1:11.57. Controlled until it wasn't. The 9:45.29 is No. 7 in US high school outdoor history and the second-fastest time ever by a junior. One week earlier she ran 9:04.92 in the 3000m at the Penn Relays - No. 4 in US history, fastest ever by a junior. She now holds eight New Jersey records. All eight in the last three months.
Camryn Dailey had a week of her own. The 14-year-old from North Carolina - who broke the U14 world record in the 200m at the Florida Relays in March - ran 51.58 in the 400m to set a new age-14 world record in the event. She is only in 8th grade and has now broken a world record in the sprint and the quarter.
Then there is Ben Dick, who is 11 years old. He ran 1:20:14 in the half marathon at the IU Health 500 Festival - a new age-11 world record in the event. He is in elementary school and ran a half marathon faster than most adults ever will.
