NXN Regionals

 

 


NXN South, TX - Photos | Boys Championship: US#5 Craig Lutz won his first NXN regional championship with a time of 14:53.06 over Brian Gohlke, 15:18.11.  The Lutz-led Marcus XC Club won the boys title with 83 points while the Carroll XC Club finshed 2nd with 93 points.  The Woodlands was just back in 3rd with 95 points.  Girls Championship: Rachel Johnson won the girls title with a time of 17:50.43.  Karis Jochen was 2nd in 18:06.23.  The Carroll XC Club won the girls team title with The Woodlands a very close 2nd, 116 to 117.  The Kingwood XC Club was 3rd with 127 points.

State Championships

 

 

 

New Jersey Meet of Champions, NJ - Boys Championship Race Video | Girls Championship Race Video | US#2 Megan Venables won with no contest in a time of 17:46.  Hillsborough won the girls title with 95 points.  On the boys side US#7 Jim Rosa won in 15:15 for a tie of #2 All-Time on the course with CBA's Mike Mazzaccaro 2nd in 15:20, as the fastest boy ever from CBA.  Christian Brother's Academy displayed the best performance in Holmdel history, winning the boys team title with a 16:05.80 team average!!  CBA scored 68 points to Haddonfield's 98.  Comprehensive Preview

New York Federation Championships, NY - Photos | Winners Gallery | Chris Hunt Story | Girls Champs: US#1 Aisling Cuffe won the girls race in 17:16.9, breaking Nichole Blood's old course record of 17:27.  Queensbury's Brittany Winslow was 2nd in 17:59.8 and frosh Laura Leff, West Genesee, was 3rd in 18:03.3.  US#2 Saratoga Springs won the team title with 62 points with Queensbury 2nd with 166 points.  Boys Champs: Edward Owens won the boys race with a time of 15:43.9.  Shaun Thompson, Baldwinsville, was 2nd in 15:51.8 and Sam Place, Saratoga Springs, was 3rd in 15:54.9.  Shaker dominated the team race with 68 points.  Meet info | Comprehensive Preview

FHSAA CC State Finals, FL - Meet Summary | Fluehr Interview | More Videos | 1A: A shocker in the girls race as US#5 Kathryn Fluehr is upset by sister Erika Fluehr.  Erika ran 17:08.76 for the win while Kathryn clocked a 17:22.49.  Holy Trinity won the team title easily with 50 points.  4A: US#23 Armando Del Valle fades, leaving the race open for Ryan Pickering to dominate from start to finish, winning with a new meet and course record of 15:03.01.  Miami-Columbus and Dr. Phillips were locked in a tight battle at 103 points each with Miami winning out with their 6th man in 31st place.  In the girls race soph Bridget Blake, Dr. Phillips, won with a time of 17:52.90.  3A: In the boys race US#24 Jimmy Clark blasted a 14:58.87 to break Pickering's earlier course and meet record.  2A: Kacy Smith, Estero, took the girls race with a time of 17:47.10.  Estero looked dominate in the team race with 43 points.  Preview

Massachusetts XC Championships, MA - Division 1 boys: John Murray, Shrewbury, won over the 2.9 mile layout with a time of 14:04.0.  Stephen Sollowin was 2nd with a time of 14:16.3.  Brookline defeated Lowell 116 to 132.  Division 1 girls: Andrea Keklak, Lincoln-Sudbury, won with a time of 16:36.4 over 2.9 miles.  Catarina Rocha was 2nd in 16:42.0.  Weymouth took the team title with 92 points.  Division 2 boys: Wesley Gallagher, Pembroke, won a tight boys battle with Dana Dourdeville 14:20.5 to 14:20.8.  Pembroke dominated the team competition, winning with just 35 points.  Division 2 girls: Viviana Hanley, Bishop Feehan, dominated the girls race, winning with the fastest time of the day, a 16:28.3 clocking.  Bishop Feehan also won the team title with 61 points.    

 

 

 

 

Regional Action

 

 

 

Nike OR-WA Border Clash XII, OR - Boys race: Kenji Bierig, WA, won the race over fellow Washington runner Nathan Weitz as both broke 14 minutes for 4400 meters.  Kenji was timed in 13:54.93 while Nathan was 13:57.93.  Vince Hamilton, WA, was 3rd in 14:02.69 and Anthony Armstrong was 4th in 14:04.59.  The first OR runner was Matthew Melancon, who was 5th in 14:04.79.  Washington runners took 9 of the top-10 places as they scored 16 points to Oregon's 47.  Girls race: Maddie Meyers, WA, led a similar sweep in the girls race, winning with a time of 16:10.59.  Katie Knight, WA, was 2nd in 16:13.19 and Amy Eloise-Neale, WA, was 3rd in 16:16.37.  Anne Marie Maag was the first Oregon runner in 4th with a time of 16:16.74.  Washington similarly took 9 of the top-10 places to score 17 points while Oregon had 46.  

 

 

 

Mid-East Meet of Champions, OH - Boys race: Austin Whitelaw, Monroe MI, won the boys title with a time of 15:22 over Chris Walden, Carmel IN, 15:24.  John Mascari, Terre Haute North IN, was 3rd in 15:25 as Indiana took the next 6 places.  Indiana won the team race with 20 points over Ohio with 55 points.  Girls race: Michelle Thomas, Glen Este OH, won the girls race with a tiem of 17:47 to beat Waverly Neer, Culver Academies IN, who was 2nd in 17:51.  Ohio won the team battle over Indiana 30 to 53.  

 

 

XC Coaches National Youth Champs, KY - Samantha Nightingale Interview | Sara Sargent Interview | Devon Young Interview | Conner Smock Interview | Sara Sargent, 18:08 on a reasonably hilly course to win the 15-16 race.  Morgan Wedekind, Brocaw 18:10 for 2nd.  Jessica Hembree 18:24 for 3rd.

17-18 girls won by Samantha Nightingale, Brocaw, 17:30, 2nd Chelsey Phoebus, Brocaw, 18:15, and 3rd Molly Milburn, Brocaw, 18:18.

17-18 boys won by Devon Young, Brocaw. 2nd Sterling Spencer, Brocaw and 3rd in 15:46 Sean Hurd, Team Kentucky.

San Diego Sectional Championships, CA -  Ryan Urie (Patrick Henry) won the Boys  Div 1 race in 15:39 for the fastest time of the day across all divisions.  Rancho Bernardo won the boys team title with a slim 3 point lead scoring 77 points to La Costa Canyon's 80.


Molly Grabil (Rancho Bernardo) won the  Div 1 girls race in 15:25 with the fastest time of the day with Alli Billmeyer (Torrey Pines) a close second clocking a 15:30.   La Costa Canyon won the title with 45 points while Torrey Pines finished 2nd with 65 points.


Dylan Blankenship (Ramona) won the  Div 2 individual title while leading his team to the team title with 46 points over Mt. Carmel (65 points).  On the girls side Meghan Breadmore (Point Loma) won the girls  Div 2 race in 16:29.  Westview won the title with 53 points.

 

 

 

Southern Section Championships, CA -  US#3 Ammar Moussa (Arcadia) won the Southern Section Div 1 finals in 15:15 clipping Lane Werely (M.L. King) by a second.  The Arcadia boys won the overall overall boys title with Dana Hills finishing 2nd.  Sarah Baxter (Simi VAlley) continued her winning streak finishing with the fastest time of the day in 17:40 to win the Div 1 individual title.  Great Oak won the girls title with 73 points.


Savannah Pio (Mira Costa) won the Div 2 race in 18:07 while Elias Gedyon (Loyola) won the boys race in 15:47.  The Saugus girls won the  Div 2 team title scoring a low 29 points over Mira Costa (62 pts).  Saugus won the overall team title by placing all 5 of their scoring runners in the top 10.  Mira Costa finished 2nd overall.

The Saugus boys also won the  title with 90 points over Loyola's 99 points. 


Samual Pons (South Pasadena) won the boys  Div 3 race in 15:50 while Rebecca Mehra won the girls race in 18:27 leading her Palos Verdes team to victory with 87 points.


Brea Olinda won the boys team title by 1 point finishing with 72 points.  Palos Verdes took 2nd with 73 points.

Will Conway (Notre Dame SO) won the  Div 4 boys race in 16:22 and Cami Chapus (Harvard-Westlake) took the girls race in 18:41. 


The boys team title went to Harvard Westlake (82 points) and JSerra took the girls title with 48 points.

Annie Mooney (Mission College Prep) finished in 19:27 to win the girls  Div 5 race.  Over on the boys side, Billy Gaudreau (St. Margaret's) clocked a 16:26 for the individual title leading his team to a first place finish.  Chadwick won the girls team title with 74 points.


 

 

 

 

North Coast Section Championships, CA -  De La Salle won the boys Div 1 North Coast Section Finals with 39 points over College Park (45 points).  Jeff Bickert (College Park) won the 3 mile race in 15:50 with teammate Anthony Ortolan finishing 2nd in 15:57.   Kelsey Santisteban (Granada) won the Div 1 girls race in 18:00 minutes with teammate Sophie Hartley 12 seconds behind.  Granada place 4 girls in the top 10 to win the team title with 42 points. 

 

Parker Deuel (San Ramon Valley) won the Div 2 boys race in 15:58 leading his team to the North Coast Section Title.  Ashley Moffet (Casa Grande) won the girls race in 18:43.  Washington girls won the team title with 55 points.

 

Petaluma won the boys Div 3 team title with individual runner Luis Luna (Piner) winning the boys race in 15:53.  Campolindo won the girls team title with 30 points as Carrie Verdon led the charge finishing 1st in 17.19 followed by teammate Grace Order.

 

Danile Milechman (Tamalpais) won the boys Div 4 race in 15:25 while San Rafael won the team title with 67 points.  In the girls race Spencer Moore (St. Mary's College) finished 1st in the girls race in 18:32.  Sir Francis Drake won the team title with 78 points.

 

Cole Williams (Urban School of San Francisco) led his team to the Div 5 title placing 1st with a time of 16:01.   Lucy McCullough (Marin Academy) won the individual girls title in 18:23 while the San Francisco University girls won the North Coast Section team title.
