SATURDAY:  Saturday got off to a rocking start with Kendall Baisden, MI, winning the 400 dash with a blazing 52.59 time.  Sheroid Evans, TX, rolled to victory in the 400 Hurdles with a US#15 All-Time clocking of 50.55.  Joshua Mance, CA, finished 2nd in the 400 dash with a time of 46.20.  Trevor Barron, PA, won the 10 Kilometer racewalk with a time of 42:58.62.  Elias Gedyon, CA, finished 2nd in the 1500 meter run with a swift 3:47.65 clocking while Colby Alexander, OH, was 4th in 3:50.89.  Cory McGee, MS, was 3rd in the women's junior 1500 with a time of 4:27.98, just ahead of Marielle Hall, NJ, 4:28.32.  Aisling Cuffe, NY, won the 5k with a time of 16:52.25, just two days after finishing third in the 3000.  (Photos by Vic Sailer, PhotoRun.net)   

FRIDAY:  Updike Story by Don Rich | Junior Allison Updike, Tamaqua PA,  won the Javelin with a US#2 throw of 167-2 tying the all time PA record.  Kendall Baisden, MI, rocked the 400 prelims with a US#1 time of 52.65!  Joshua Mance, CA, was the top boys prep qualifier with a time of 46.46.  Sheroid Evans, TX, was the top prep qualifier in the 400 hurdles with a time of 52.25.  Ashton Purvis, CA, won the 200 meter dash finals in 23.32 and placed 2nd in the 100 dash in 11.39.  Elias Gedyon, Loyola CA took 2nd (3:50.86) in the 1500 prelims as the top prep runner heading into the finals.   US#1 ranked sophomore, Ajee Wilson, Neptune NJ, won the girls 800 meter run in 2:05.75 in a tight battle with Laura Roesler, ND, 2:05.80.  Chris FitzSimons, CT, took an impressive 3rd behind Casimir Loxsom and Robby Andrews with a time of 1:48.83!  Eleanor Fulton ran 2nd in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10:37.84.  Hannah Willms finished as the runner-up and top prep in the high jump with a height of 6-00.  Oliver Bradwell won the 200 dash with a time of 21.18.  Marquis Dendy was 2nd, top prep, in the triple jump with a 51-02.25 leap.  Shanique Walker was 2nd in the triple with a mark of 41-06.  Justin Welch was 2nd in the hammer with a heave of 230-07.  Parker Stinson won the 10000 meter run with a time of 30:56.10.        

THURSDAY:  Junior Shelby Ashe, St. Pius GA, won the girls hammer throw with an amazing US#3 All-Time heave of 199-04.  The 3000 was stacked as Emily Sisson rocked the field with a US#8 All-Time 9:18.73 winning time!  Following closely were Jordan Hasay, 9:18.92, and Aisling Cuffe, 9:20.94. David Smith won the high jump with an impressive leap of 7-03.75.  Jen Clayton was 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 19-09.75.  Nick Vena won the shot put with a mark of 66-01.  Ashton Purvis, CA, was 2nd in the 100 dash with a time of 11.39.  Mark Thomas, TX, was 2nd in the pole vault with a mark of 16-08.75.  Johnathan Cabral finished runner-up in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 13.70 and Trinity Wilson, CA, was 4th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 13.49.

Preview

The USATF Junior Champs is loaded with prep talent across all events for both boys and girs. 

 

A few of the boys highlights include a decathlon match-up between Gunnar Nixon and Kevin Lazas, hurdle battles between Demoye Bogle, Trevor Brown, and Sir'Paul Jones, Joshua Mance in the 400, Chris FitzSimons in the 800, Trevor Barron in the 10k Racewalk, Cole Watson in the 1500, and Craig Lutz in the 10k.  In the field there will be US record holder Sam Crouser in the javelin, Logan Pflibsen vs Mark Thomas vs Joey and Chris Uhle in the pole vault, David Smith in the high jump, Justin Hunter vs Marqu

is Dendy vs Carlton Lavong vs Kasen Covington in the long and triple jumps, Nick Vena vs Davis Fraker in the shot put, and Davis Fraker, Justin Welch, and Alex Faldermeyer in the Hammer throw.

 

A few of the girls highlights include Ashton Purvis in the 100/200 dashes, Diamond Dixon vs Briana Nelson vs Kendall Baisden in the 400, Ajee Wilson vs Laura Roesler in the 800, Aisling Cuffe vs Emily Sisson in the girls 3000 and 5000, and Kori Carter in the 100/400 hurdles.  In the field Hannah Willms in the high jump, Merritt Van Meter in the pole vault, A'Lexus Brannon in the long/triple jumps, Jillian Rushin in the shot put, Alex Collatz vs Baillie Gibson in the discus, Shelby Ashe in the Hammer, and Christine Kirkwood, Avione Allgood, and Allison Updike in the javelin.
