Natasza Dudek of Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI) capped one of the most dominant seasons in recent high school cross country history by being named the 2025 MileSplit Coros Athlete of the Year, an honor that reflects both her sustained excellence and her historic achievements on the national stage.

Entering the fall ranked just 14th individually in the preseason, Dudek wasted no time rewriting expectations. By the second week of the season, she had surged into the national top five, and from there she never relinquished her grip on the spotlight. Her trajectory peaked in early November, when she vaulted to No. 2 nationally following a commanding performance at the Michigan state meet, where she set a meet record, and she maintained that elite standing through her course-record victory at the NXR Midwest Regional Championships.
What followed was a flawless championship run that cemented Dudek's place in history. She completed an undefeated season, claiming titles at the Michigan State Championships, Brooks XC Championships, and Nike Cross Nationals, becoming the first girl ever to win both NXN and a national championship at Balboa Park in the same year.

That feat carried even deeper meaning for Dudek, whose sister Zofia won at Balboa Park in 2019, making the Dudeks the first sibling duo to claim national titles at the iconic venue. Reflecting on that legacy, Natasza said, "It's really cool to come out here and race where she raced a couple of years back. She always just tells me to stay in the race, no matter what, you can never give up on yourself, and you just have to keep pushing through everything." With her NXN victory, Dudek not only honored that advice but expanded the family legacy in unprecedented fashion.
Dudek's results throughout the 2025 season underscored her consistency and competitive dominance. She won every race she entered, clocking times that ranged from tactical early-season efforts to blazing championship performances. Highlights included a 16:09.50 to win the MHSAA LP Finals, a 16:18.47 victory at NXR Midwest, a 16:50.10 triumph at Nike Cross Nationals, and a season best 16:55.50 to claim the Brooks XC title. From early wins at the Shepherd John Bruder Classic and SEC-HS Jamboree to decisive victories at the Portage, Bulldog, and Jackson Invitationals, Dudek proved she could win on any course, in any conditions, and against the deepest fields the country had to offer.
By season's end, Natasza Dudek had not only collected every major honor available but also reshaped what a complete high school cross country season can look like. Her undefeated campaign, historic championship double, and steady rise from preseason contender to national standard-bearer made her selection as MileSplit's 2025 Coros Athlete of the Year not just fitting, but inevitable.
