With all the buzz surrounding the Brooks XC Championships and Nike Regional meets, the California State XC Championships flew under the radar over the weekend, but produced several impressive performances across the board - especially those by underclassmen.
St. Francis's Alyssa Gutierrez blazed to a 2nd-place finish in the Division D girls championship race, running a 17:17.60. The freshman was just 8 seconds off her previous season-best and finishes her season having won 5 of her 10 races.
