Albemarle Invitational | Panorama Farms, Earlysville, VA
The Albemarle Invitational held freshman, varsity and open races. In the Freshman Boys 5000m, Cerak Atoshm of Turner Ashby led from the front and claimed victory in 17:11.10. Benjamin Henley of Albemarle finished second in 17:20.50, with teammate Noah Hillis close behind in 17:29.30. That one-two punch helped Albemarle secure the team title by the narrowest of margins, 51 points to Turner Ashby's 52, marking one of the tightest finishes of the meet.
The intensity carried into the Varsity Boys 5000m, where Samson Palmer, a senior from Charlottesville, won in 15:16, followed by Gavin Daniels of Gainesville High School in 15:23.50, and Hayes Buppert, a junior from Tandem Friends School, in 15:29.20. Albemarle earned another team victory here, finishing with 110 points, ahead of Western Albemarle with 169 and Charlottesville with 181.
In the Open Boys 5000m, Albemarle swept the top three positions. Ethan Jupin led the charge in 16:51.50, followed by Avery Jupin in 16:59.10 and Bryce Wright in 17:09.00. The team standings reflected that dominance: Albemarle finished first with 17 points, while Loudoun Valley and Western Albemarle placed second and third with 98 and 115 points, respectively.
On the girls' side, competition was just as strong. In the Freshman Girls 5000m, Sophia Lindsey of Mills Godwin earned a clear victory in 18:50.80, finishing ahead of Isabella Aguillon, an eighth grader from Louisa County, who ran 20:00.50. Anastasia Hortega placed third in 21:40.20.

The Varsity Girls 5000m featured one of the day's standout performances. Samantha Nitzsche defended her title and set both a course and meet record with a winning time of 17:16. Elaina Pierce, a senior, followed in 17:31.60, and River Smith, a freshman from Hanover, placed third in 18:10.90. Hanover took home the team win with 77 points.
In the Open Girls 5000m, Bria Hanville, an eighth grader from Hanover, finished first in 19:11.60. Brooke Saunders, a junior from Harrisonburg, claimed second in 19:39.20, and Addison Shoppell, another eighth grader from Hanover, was third in 20:17.60. Hanover secured another team title with 38 points, edging Western Albemarle, who finished with 40.
