A weekend packed with major regional meets - from the historic Manhattan Cross Country Invitational in the "Big Apple" to the ASICS Clovis Invitational out west in Fresno - gave fans plenty to follow as top programs clashed across the country.
The National Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, October 16, and the winner will be announced shortly after.
Take a look at five of the top-performing girls from this past weekend.
*Athletes cannot be nominated for National Performer of the Week in back-to-back weeks*
POLL: National Boys XC Performer of the Week (Oct. 6-12)
This Week's Nominees:
Aelo Curtis, Ventura (Calif.): In her first 5k race of the season, Curtis dominated from the get-go, pulling away to run a new PB of 16:44.5 to cap off her 13-second win. Curtis was crowned the victor at the ASICS Clovis Invitational, making it the third-straight year a Ventura athlete has broken the tape (Sadie Engelhardt '25 won in 2023 and 2024). Curtis took down perennial powers as she notched her fourth win in five races.
Ellery Lincoln, Lincoln (Ore.): Not a bad way to pick up your first win since early September. After back-to-back-to-back runner-up finishes, Lincoln put together a statement win at the 5th Annual Rose City Championship Invite, where she dipped below 17:00 for the second time this season. The junior clocked 16:56 as she won by 14 seconds, helping her Lincoln squad to a runner-up finish.
Sloan Dickson, Lynden (Wash.): The top American finisher at the Nike Hole in the Wall XC Invitational, Dickson earned runner-up honors with a time of 17:11.8. While she didn't pull out the win, Dickson comfortably separated herself from the rest of the field, putting eight seconds between her and the chase pack. Early on, she sat right on eventual winner Adrianna Buitelaar's heels through the first mile, but the Canadian standout began to pull away shortly after, leaving Dickson to claim a decisive second-place finish.
Maeve Going, Sacred Heart Academy (N.Y.): Few athletes can say they broke the tape at the Manhattan Cross Country Invitational, and the New York standout is one of them. After clocking 15:07.8 to finish runner-up in the 1A race a year ago, Going was undeniable this time around, winning the Coach Edward J.J. Bowes '64 Memorial Girls Eastern States race in 14:05. Going is in the midst of a stellar senior year, riding a 3-1 record into the third week of October.
Macy Wingard, Denton-Braswell (Texas): The dream season keeps going for Wingard, this time running a huge PB of 16:30 to win her fourth consecutive UIL District 5-6A title. Not only that, but it marked Wingard's first race under 16:40, making her the fourth-fastest Texan in state history. The BYU commit won the race by 12 seconds, as she comfortably picked up her first win of the season.
