COROS Distance Athletes Of The Week (June 9-15)

Another historic performance from Crater (Ore.) graduate Josiah Tostenson at the Portland Track Festival and a dominant showing from Maddie Gullickson out of Wayzata (Minn.) locked in these stars as the 12th set of nominees for the COROS Distance Athlete of the Week.

*Previous nominees for COROS Distance Athlete of the Week can not be selected a second time. 

JOSIAH TOSTENSON, CRATER (Ore.)

CLASS OF 2025

The good times keep on coming for the future Washington Husky, as Tostenson became the third-fastest 1500m runner in high school history, running 3:36.85 at the Portland Track Festival. The Crater (Ore.) graduate finished 12th, just behind fellow high schooler and future teammate Owen Powell (3:36.49). Tostenson is in the midst of a dream campaign, coming off of a runner-up finish at the HOKA Festival of Miles (3:59) and a pair of state titles in the 1800m and 1500m.

 


MADDIE GULLICKSON, WAYZATA (Minn.)

CLASS OF 2026

The standout junior notched a few more state titles to add to her growing list of accolades, winning a pair of 6AAA titles in the 1600m and 3200m. Coming off of PBs in both events at her Section meet (4:44.54/10:18.63), and kept her winning streaks alive in both. Gullickson won the 3200m in 10:26.45, winning by 15 seconds, and then won the 1600m in 4:49.50. The junior is now the back-to-back-to-back state champion over 3200m, and now has four total.
