Analysis: As a high school freshman, Sheppard made a name for herself both on the grass and the track.
Last fall, the Union Catholic star ran a lifetime best of 17:35.3, winning big at the NJSIAA Group Championships and NXR Northeast.
Sheppard's debut high school track season more than lived up to the hype, as the freshman ran 4:43.18 and 2:07.11 in the 1600m and 800m.
Sheppard was also the anchor on both of Union Catholic's national record-breaking performances in the 4x800m.
