Analysis: One of the most talented runners on the East Coast, Macchia is heading into her final season after a long summer of racing on the track, capping off her season in the 5000m at the U20 World Athletics Championships. It's unsure the exact date Macchia will make her long-awaited debut, but expect her to get things rolling at some point over the next month.
As a junior, Macchia tallied nine victories in 11 races, highlighted by wins at the Manhattan Invitational and Foot Locker Northeast Regional. She finished 10th in San Diego, CA at Foot Locker Nationals, and will be the third-fastest heading into 2024's edition.
In January she won her second USATF U20 Cross Country title, going on to finish 29th at the U20 World Cross Country Championships.
The New York-based star is due for a breakout season on the grass, and what better time than her senior year to unleash?
