GIRLS 100mH

Time: 12.84 (+1.2)

Where: USATF U20 National Outdoor Championships

Record-Holder: Tia Jones, Walton (GA), 2016

What's that song? 'You Don't Know What You Got Until It's Gone'?

That seems fitting here. From 2014 to 2017, we saw five girls run 12.95 or faster in the 100mH nationally.

Tia Jones, Dior Hall, Alexis Duncan, Tara Davis and Chanel Brissett all clocked times under 13 seconds. Was a trend happening? It turned out ... it was just a bubble.

The fastest girls time at the distance came this year at the Texas Relays, with Rylee Hampton clocking a wind-legal time of 13.18 (+1.7).

It takes a special athlete and a special moment and an agreeable wind for this record to take flight.

Maybe that's why it's so untouchable.
