South Carolina Sprint Stars Take Home Titles

It's been a year for records in the state of South Carolina this spring, and that trend continued this weekend at the SCHSL State Championships.

Some of the best talents hailing from the state, including the likes of Nigel Ancrum of Spring Valley and Bryson Miller out of Dorman, took home hardware in the highly-competitive sprint competitions.

Ancrum, the Tennessee signee, didn't compete at the championships in 2022 as a junior, but bounced back as a senior to win both the 100m and 200m at the 5A level. The senior won each race in 10.33 (+0.0) and 20.69 (+0.2), the latter of which equaled a new wind-legal PR and a top 15 time in the country this season.

Miller, who has burst onto the scene nationally as a top quarter-miler in 2023, continued to display his excellence at the distance with a 46.05 personal best and new South Carolina state 400m record.

The Oklahoma commit also took third in the 100m finals in 10.52 (+0.0) and secured second place in the 200m in 21.30 (+0.2) to go home with three medals.
