At Florida Relays, two of the nation's best mid-distance runners competed for the 800m title. As a result, this race brought out some major kicks.

It was a battle between Hagerty's (FL) Miguel Pantojas and Shorewood's (WI) Nathan Cumberbatch. Through the first half of the race, Pantojas came through in 53-seconds with full control over the field.

When there was 200m of track left in the race, Cumberbatch, the Nike Indoor National 800m champion, entered another gear and was able to come away with the win to debut his outdoor season with a new personal best of 1:50.33. Pantojas finished with a close second with a 1:50.92 and Arnold's (FL) Edward Kepran was third in 1:52.60.

Cumberbatch became the third-fastest boy in the nation after this weekend with his electrifying performance, while Pantojas moved up to US No. 5 respectively.
