NLI SIGNING WEEK IS HERE -- The University of Tennessee landed one of the nation's fastest 400 meter sprinters on Saturday.

Announcing before family and friends, Montverde Academy senior Zyaire Nuriddin chose the Volunteers over a host of other schools, including Florida, LSU, Georgia and Texas.

Nuriddin is quite the catch for director of track and field Duane Ross, who made the switch to Tennessee from North Carolina A&T this past year.

The Volunteers have already landed the MileSplit No. 3 recruit in the girls class, Myla Greene of The Bullis School (MD), and FHSAA 2A state cross country champion Aidan Ryan of Bolles (FL).

Nuriddin enters his senior season with personal bests of 6.86 in the 60m, 21.14 in the 200m, 34.57 in the 300m, and 46.04 in the 400m.

During the outdoor season, Nuriddin clocked wind-legal marks of 10.42 in the 100m and 21.08 in the 200m. He also clocked one of the nation's fastest 400m performances in history.

As a junior, Nuriddin began his first season at Montverde Academy in 2022 after spending his first two years at Howard Tech (DE).

When he became an Eagle this past indoor season, he started to turn some heads.

Nuriddin kicked off the season with a handful of meets around the country.

Towards the end of the indoor season, Nuriddin started to compete at the national level. He finished second in the 200m at the NSAF Indoor Nationals where he ran the sixth-fastest performance in 2022 with a new personal best of 21.14. A week later, he won the adidas Track Nationals with a lifetime best of 46.04 to win the title.

Nuriddin's 400m performance from the adidas Track Nationals moved him up to No. 3 on the all-time indoor list behind Elzie Coleman's 45.92 and Tyrese Cooper's 46.01.

His success didn't stop there.

When the spring season came around, Nuriddin wasted no time showcasing his speed and strength in the sprints.

In April, Nuriddin stepped onto the track to compete at Florida Relays in Gainsville. In his sixth 400m of the outdoor season, Nuriddin covered the oval in 45.78 seconds. This was the second-fastest performance in the nation in 2022 and the fifth-fastest time by a high school boy in Florida.

He rounded out the season with an FHSAA 2A Outdoor State championship title in the 400m with a 46.89 and a runner up finish in the 200m with a 10.52.
