Throwback Thursday: Cook Runs No. 2 All-Time 5k At GRXC2

Former Flower Mound (TX) national phenom Natalie Cook ran her way into the record books a year ago at the 2021 Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships.

And it was a performance unlike any other for the athlete on her way to becoming one of the best in girls high school distance history.

Leading essentially from start to finish, Cook ran away with the national title in Huntsville, Ala., crossing the line in 16:03.93 for the second-fastest 5k cross country performance of all time.

Cook's winning time ranks only behind Jenna Hutchins' 15:58.42 mark to win the first-ever RunningLane nationals meet in 2020.

Cook would also go on to win the Eastbay Cross Country National Championship to cap off her cross country season, and later clocked an outdoor track 5k record of 15:25.93 in April.
