The season-ending National Championship race at Balboa Park in San Diego, California, will have a different name in 2022 again: From Foot Locker to Eastbay and now to Champs Sports.
According to an announcement by Tim O'Rourke, the long-time public address announcer for Foot Locker Nationals and the Eastbay Cross Country Championships, this year's installment will move to Champ Sports, a subsidiary of Foot Locker.
O'Rourke confirmed on Saturday at the Mt. Carmel Invitational in California that the Eastbay Cross Country Championships -- which took the primary title-sponsorship last year -- will be changing hands to Champs Sports and -- at least unofficially right now -- will become the Champs Sports National Championships.
O'Rourke, who is part of the national organizing committee for the race, confirmed this news to California MileSplit. He will be the announcer for both this year's Champs Sports West Regional and the national-title race in San Diego.
