No. 11: Kickapoo (MO)

- - -

Analysis: The reigning MSHSAA Class 5 champs could be ready for an encore. With six returners back, including No. 1 Tyler Harris -- who's now a senior -- the Missouri program is heading full steam ahead. Kickapoo scored its first four runners in positions eight-through-15 at the state championships last fall, meaning their pack-running will likely pay dividends in 2022.

Based on PRs heading into the fall, Kickapoo's spread is under 60 seconds and their team average is 15:45, 16th-best in the country. Along with Harris' top time of 15:20, the next three runners have all broken 16 minutes.

Biggest Question: Can Kickapoo fend off Rock Bridge?

Also ranked in the preseason MileSplit50 at No. 17, Rock Bridge finished second to Kickapoo at states by just four points, holds a budding star in Andrew Hauser and finished 19th at nationals last year, earning valuable late-season experience. Those variables make a difference. Kickapoo can't rest on its laurels.
