No. 12: Lucas Lovejoy (TX)

Analysis: The dynamic tandem of Amy and Sara Morefield are going to make Lucas Lovejoy one of Texas' top cross country teams, without question, but they could also elevate the program to even greater heights at the national level. What surely helps, though, is this team's fantastic depth: Kailey Littlefield, a two-time Texas state 800m champion, along with Peyton Benson and Kate Carlson, have all gone under 19 minutes for 5K. Lovejoy, by the way, are the returning UIL Texas state Class 5A champions.
This team is fast, with a team 5K average of 18:12.93 based on PRs coming back into the 2022 season. That's 10th-best among all teams in the country. Amy Morefield has clocked a PR of 17:36.30 for her career, and is seemingly the team's No. 1. But undoubtedly, Lovejoy has a roster that can compete with anyone, and once nationals season arrives, we'll be interested in to see just how fast they can go.
Biggest Question: Could Littlefield become a star No. 3?
The high school junior is an absolute rock star on the track, owning a PR of 2:06.21 for 800m. Her biggest strength is her speed. But is it possible that Littlefield can also transform into a two-way runner in cross country? Her PR of 18:00.11 came at the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships a year ago. If she can continue to improve, she will be a coveted recruit for collegiate programs -- though we would have to assume she already is.
